Trust And Have Faith

Trust and have faith for every life there is a path
If you walk in the dark but believe, your heart will lead you a path
Problems are not meant to stop us but our dreams to achieve
In the grave, souls are lost due to doubt and unbelief.

Trust and have faith for tomorrow is another day
If the battle not won yesterday, it can be defeated today
Once upon a time hope was lost to the world
Jesus came our sake and shed His blood
For mankind every morning He gave freely his word.

Trust and have faith for there is no other way
If you want the blessings of heaven your lives to forever stay
Angels are sent from heaven to watch over you and me
I have decided to draw near to God so he can draw to me.

Trust and have faith for every day is a brand new day
Learn to forgive and forget a life of days in dismay
Love can’t be bought but can be nurtured deep in our heart
For the things you need in life, you've got every right.

Trust and have faith and believe what the bible says
To be happy, we need to have a friend like Jesus all the way
Night will always fall in our lives but stars the cloud will make bright
And take away memories of neglects, pains and broken heart
For when the world is dark, a little faith will make our lives bright.

Give Me This Mountain!

Text: Joshua 14:6-13

"Give me this mountain" was a prayer of faith from the lips of Caleb. He had a promise yet to be possessed. He knew the time had come to possess his possession. Neither age nor time was able to him from coming into his promised inheritance. "I shall be able to drive them out..." were the assertive words of this man of faith. He believed it, confessed and possessed it.

There are many lessons to be learnt from the life of Caleb. One, as a young man, he cultivated trust and confidence in God. He knew God as his God (Numbers 14:8).

Two, through him we know that, where necessary, men of faith are never afraid to stand alone in their conviction as long as they know God is in it.

Three, men of faith always see their God as higher and bigger than their mountains. They never think nor meditate on their problems nor mountains.

Four, Calebs are always known for positive confession of faith. When others are saying "we are not able", their confession always is "we are well able to overcome it" (Numbers 13:31,30).

Five, they are men who always stand for God and on His promises. Others may murmur and complain; they praise and worship the Lord even when they have not seen the physical, tangible manifestation of their hope (Numbers 14:6-9).

Six, Calebs are men who persevere in faith. They are men who remain unshakable in their conviction no matter their age or passage of time. They know how best to wait patiently for the fulfilment of God's promises.

Finally, they are men who are sensitive and prayerful enough as to know the time of their visitation. They know how to convert God's promises into possession through earnest fervent prayers of faith.

We must take our cues from Caleb, Abraham, Joshua, David, Shadrach, Meshach, Abednego, Peter, Paul and most importantly our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Through earnest prayer of faith, we can lay hold on the promises of God.

How To Be Sure

Are you sure you are among the chosen few
Who shall enter glory when life on earth is through?
It is not enough to say "the sinner's prayer"
Or assent to the gospel when it is shared.

Your life will be changed and your heart made anew
If the Holy Spirit is indwelling you;
From each and every sin you will turn away
And seek to obey whate'er the Scriptures say.

Your affections will be set on things above,
Your motive t'wards others will be to show love,
Your supreme desire will be to do God's will,
And though you lose all for Him, you'll love Him still.

While these changes cannot save you from your sin,
They provide assurance you've been born again;
If they are not manifested in your life,
Don't rest until you have saving faith in Christ.

He Will Restore When You Return

Text: Ezekiel 37: 1-14, Job 8: 5-8

In the first text above, God proved his Majesty and power by doing the unthinkable. The account in the book of Ezekiel revealed how God raised dry bones and breathes life into them. Israel disobeyed God by their idolatry and pervasiveness, they forgot their God and went their own ways of ignorance and sin.

God, who is a righteous judge and holy, cannot stand the sight of sin. As such, He (God) compared the conducts of the children of Israel to the uncleanness of a woman during her (physical) impurity i.e. during menstruation. The children of Israel incurred His wrath and He “scattered them among the nations, they were dispersed through the countries; according to their conducts and their idolatrous deeds I (God) judged and punished them.”

Every time we go our own ways and forsake the statues and commandments of God, we incur His wrath. Most times, the consequences are more than what we can bear: incurable sicknesses, poverty, disappointment, failure, death, loss, among others. But God demands that we walk with Him in holiness, love and in true obedience.

The account of Ezekiel often makes reference to the fact that God is “The Sovereign Ruler, Who calls forth loyalty and obedient service”. This is to remind us that God tolerates no compromise and is ever ready to punish whoever offends Him, and this He does out of His love for us. “For the Lord corrects and disciplines everyone whom He loves…”

The case of Israel was not exceptional in the sense that the Lord can do anything to restore us back to the place of His glory when we repent and turn back from our evil and sinful ways. The Israelites were being ridiculed by their captors, defiling the holy name of God. In His infinite mercies, God sought to vindicate them for His name sake. And the perfect analogy on how He did that was portrayed in the dry bones coming to life (the unthinkable).

Prophet Ezekiel said: “And I looked and behold, there were sinews upon (the bones) and flesh came upon them and skin covered them over, but there was no breath or spirit in them. Then said He to me, prophesy to the breath and spirit, son of man, and say to the breath and spirit, Thus says the Lord God: Come from the four winds, O breath and spirit, and breathe upon the slain that they may live.

“So I prophesied… and they lived and stood upon their feet… Then He said to me, Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel. Behold, they say, our bones are dried up and our hope is lost; we are completely cut off.”

However, God didn't forget His promise to their fathers and said: “I will open your graves and cause you to come out… I will bring you back home to the land of Israel.” This same promise of restoration is what God is offering to those who are ready to let go of their wayward ways and seek His face.

Our God is merciful and never ignores anyone who comes to Him repentant and humble in heart. So you have to make up your mind today whether to return to God and be restored or remain where you are, stagnant and retrogressive.

But “if you will seek God diligently and make your supplication to the Almighty, then, if you are pure and upright, surely He will bestir Himself for you and make your righteous dwelling prosperous again. And though your beginning was small, yet your latter end would greatly increase.”

These are the promises of God to restore your blessings and abundance and even give you much more than you once had; only that you return to Him with all sincerity and purity of heart.

Remember the story of Job how he lost it all in one day? Did God give up on him? This same God is the same and never changes. Malachi 3:6 says, “For I am the Lord, I do not change…” Because He doesn't change, so His promises for you won’t change. No matter how far off the track you have gone, He will welcome you and call you His own only when you return with humility and a broken, contrite heart.

“Acquaint now yourself with Him (agree with God and show yourself to be conformed to His will) and be at peace; by that (you shall prosper and great) good shall come to you. If you return to the Almighty, (and submit and humble yourself before Him) you will be built up; if you put away unrighteousness far from your tent…then you will have delight in the Almighty, and you will lift up your face to God”(Job 22:21, 23-26).

This is the invite of God to you today that you return to Him, and He will restore all your lost glories, blessings and favors that the locust has consumed. He is able!

He Found Me

He found me
And saved my soul,
Gave His life and made me whole;
He is Christ and He's in me.

He found me
And took me home
From sinful paths I once did roam;
He is Christ and He's for me.

He found me
And gave me grace
To be His friend and win life's race;
He is Christ and He's with me.

He found me
And took away
All my pains, I didn't pay;
He is Christ who healeth me.

He is Christ who died for me,
Died for you and for us all.
He calls to you to come and see
How love can raise all those who fall

Beneath their foes,
Cuddling life's woes,
Beneath the shame
That clouds their aim.

He is Christ
And He found me.

Conquering The "Old Man" Within

Text: Romans 6:6; 7:18-25

The old self enslaves.
The "old man" is the nature of sin inherited from the fall of man. As as dominating tyrant, the "old man" enslaves the will and defiles and mind and conscience.

The unregenerated are under the dominating power of the "old man" and are subject to the life of sin of fornication, adultery, stealing, fighting, hatred, lying, drunkenness, etc. At the point of salvation, outward sins are dealt with. That is, the shoots of the "old man" (outward sins) are destroyed, but the root remains.

Christ can conquer the old self.
After the salvation experience, the presence of the root of the "old man" is noticeable in the life of a believer in various ways. For example, his life is full of internal struggles which hinders him from having a perfect love for God and man. Problems such as self-centeredness, position seeking, carnality and impure thoughts manifest in his relationship with other people.

These activities of the "old man" can only be conquered through another Christian experience known as sanctification. At sanctification, the root of sin is completely destroyed and removed from the heart through a divine operation (Ezekiel 36:26). Thus, the believer s freed from all forms of internal struggles and impurities and his heart filled with supreme love for God (Deuteronomy 30:6).

Our Lord Jesus Christ has already purchased the victory for us through His blood which He shed on the cross at Calvary (Hebrews 13:12). Every believer can have the "old man" totally crushed by praying to God for the sanctification experience. The evidences of sanctification experience are perfect love, right motives, unity, inner victory and freedom, inner and outward holiness. If you desire this glorious experience, consecrate your life to God and pray in faith and the Lord will sanctify you (1 Thessalonians 5:23).

When Life's Short Day Is Done

When life's short day is done at last
And heaven's gates open wide,
Pain and sorrow will then be past,
And I'll cast my cares aside.

I'll walk upon the streets of gold
And breathe pure celestial air;
What beautiful sights I'll behold
With the saints and angels there.

Jesus will be waiting for me
With all of His glory shown;
I'll live with Him eternally
In pleasures I've never known!

A Great Gulf Is Fixed

Text: Luke 16:19-26

The Great Gulf
Christ’s narration of the story of the life and death of Lazarus and the rich man gives us a peep into eternity.

On earth, the rich man fared sumptuously. He had all that money could buy but had no time to prepare for his eternal home. Lazarus, on the other hand, while on earth, lived a poor and miserable life. He had no money to get what he needed but had grace to prepare for his eternal home.

Eventually, both died. Lazarus would no longer feed on “the crumbs which fell from the rich man’s table.” A “Great Gulf” is now fixed that eternally separates both of them. The rich man now desires the place of rest of Lazarus. The comfort he was used to on earth was no longer available in the torments of the flame where he now lives. Forever, the “Great Gulf” will remain fixed in eternity between the godly and the ungodly, the righteous and the unrighteous.

Like Abraham the friend of God, one day, we too will pass on. Cain shed the blood of his brother, Abel. Eventually, both died. Judas Iscariot sold his Master for few pieces of silver. He too died (Acts 1:18; Hebrews 9:27).

of all men. Hell is the place of torment for all men who live unrighteous, sinful lives like the rich man did. Heaven is the prepared abode for men who, like Lazarus, lived God-honouring and God-fearing life.

Men’s decision on earth will determine which side of the “Great Gulf” they will spend eternity. Jesus Christ is the only “Bridge” that links man to heaven. All other “bridges” men make for themselves will lead them to hell.

Christ shed His blood as the redemptive price for the salvation of whosoever will hearken and heed His invitation: “Come unto me all ye that labour and are heavy laden and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28).

Later May Be Late

I may never see tomorrow,
there is no guarantee
And things that happened yesterday
belong to history.

I can't predict the future,
I can't change the past,
I have just the present moment
To treat as my last.

I must use this moment wisely
For soon it will pass away
And be lost forever
As a part of yesterday.

I must exercise compassion,
Help the fallen to their feet,
Be a friend unto the friendless,
Make their life complete.

The unkind thing I do today,
May never be undone,
And friendships that I fail to win
May never more be won.

I may not have another chance
On bent knees to pray,
And I thank God with a humble heart
For giving me this day.

The Radical Word Of Justification

Read the Scripture: Acts 13:32-39

"Therefore, my friends, I want you to know that through Jesus the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you. Through him everyone who believes is set free from every sin, a justification you were not able to obtain under the law of Moses. Acts 13:38-39"

Paul makes a shattering statement in this message in Pisidian Antioch. Here were people who thought the Ten Commandments were the greatest word that God had ever given to men. They were trying their best to live up to them. They thought that the way to God was to obey the Ten Commandments — to do good. But now Paul comes to declare to them that they will never find acceptance by God in that way.

Rather, Paul tells them, God has found a way to accept us even though we cannot be good enough in ourselves, and that way is through Jesus Christ. This shook these people. They had never heard anything like this before! This is the first occasion where we have record of Paul's using that great word which is so frequent in the book of Romans, justification by faith.
What does it mean to be justified? Most people think it means to have your sins forgiven. It does mean that, but it means more than that. Justification means to have your sins forgiven in such a way that God's honor and integrity are preserved by it. I served in the Navy for two years and then was honorably discharged. When I was discharged it meant that I was separated from the Navy. They were through with me, and I was through with them. But what I liked about it was the word honorable. It was an honorable discharge. I could freely show my discharge papers to anyone. There was no blot on my discharge. But I knew certain men in the Navy who were dishonorably discharged. They were just as separate from the Navy as was I. The Navy was just as through with them as it was with me. But, there was a blot on their discharge, a stain on it. They did not like to show their discharge papers to anyone.
So what Paul is really saying here is that — if you merely had your sins forgiven, if God forgave in the way that most people think he does: i.e., you just come to him, and he is such a loving God that he says, Oh, forget about it, that's all right, don't worry about it; you're such a great fellow and I love you so much that I'm just going to ignore it — if that were the case, then God's honor would be impugned. His character would be defiled by that kind of forgiveness. He could no longer be regarded as the God of justice and truth; he would be a partaker in my sins and yours. But God has found a way, through Jesus, to lay the guilt of our life and heart upon his own Son. Thus he can preserve his honor and character and integrity while at the same time he is rendered free to show his whole love to us. That is justification. Because of the cross, nobody will ever be able to point to God and say, Oh, you let people off who are guilty! In the cross of Jesus, God poured out all his justice upon him. And in that cross, in the agony and the anguish of it, the world can see a picture of how faithfully God does obey his own laws. And yet, the wonder of it is that, because of it, God's love is freed to be poured out to us.
"Father, my heart is stirred as I think of the mercy that you show to me, this marvelous justification by which all that has lain heavily upon my conscience has been washed away in the blood of Jesus Christ. How wonderful this is, Lord; teach me never to forget that I have been justified."
